Sociology for Nurses and Health Professionals

About Course
Course: Sociology for Nurses and Health Professionals
Sociology for Nurses and Health Professionals introduces students to the study of society, human behavior, and the social factors that influence health and illness. The course explores how social structures—like family, culture, class, gender, religion, and institutions—affect both individual and community well-being.
It aims to equip health workers with sociological knowledge and critical thinking skills that improve patient care, communication, and understanding of diverse communities.
By linking sociological theory to nursing and healthcare practice, students will understand how social environments shape health outcomes and how healthcare professionals can respond sensitively and effectively within different social contexts.
NB: Topics and lessons have been prepared in line with the curriculum for nurses (2018), both at certificate and diploma level.
